The 6 Marks - Living Authentically

Series: The 6 Marks of Hitting the Mission

Summary

OUR MARKS/MEASURES

This is our Target – It is the When – when are we successful and hit the target we believe that is set before us.  This is a vital piece that will help us to really know that we are hitting our mission.  This is personal and are questions that we want every person who is a part of our church asking on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis of themselves and of each other.

How Am I Living…

  • Authentically?
  • Biblically?
  • Connectedly?
  • Desperately?
  • Evangelistically?
  • Faithfully?

How Am I Living Authentically?

Romans 7: 2 Corinthians 12:7-10; I Timothy 4:7-16; I Peter 1:7; 1 Corinthians 3:13-15; Matthew 23:1-36

  • Genuine, the real deal not playing games
  • The same person in private as in public
  • The same person at work, home, school, neighborhood, or church.
  • OK to share the broken places of my life and be real about who I am
  • Willing to be open, transparent and honest about my life and struggles
  • There is proof of your walk with Jesus in your daily life – there is enough evidence to convict you in a “courtroom” that you are a genuine Christ Follower.

QUESTIONS TO ASK OURSELVES FROM MATTHEW 23

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious laws and you Pharisees. Hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs – beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.”  Matthew 23:27-28

  1. Do we fail to practice what we preach?

  1. Are we not content with the approval of God or do we desire the applause of man more?

  1. Do we assert our superiority over others?

  1. Are we hypocritically centered ourselves? Are we full of pride and wanting to please ourselves?

  1. Are we hindering people’s salvation? Do we care if people are dying and going to hell?  Are we sharing the true Gospel and are we discipling them to become like us or like Jesus?

  1. Are we more concerned with manmade rules and justifying our “small” sins than we are with practical ministry?

  1. Are we focused on outward cleanliness instead of inward holiness?
